Dermaplaning is a method of exfoliation to remove dead skin cells and fine vellus hair, or “peach fuzz”, from the skin. This method of exfoliation goes deeper than a microdermabrasion and is often recommended with a chemical peel like the Vi Peel or a MicroPeel. This treatment is recommended for all skin types except those with sebaceous or cystic acne.
How should I prepare for my treatment?
If you are in the sun for a prolonged period of time, use a sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher and liberally reapply it throughout the day in all of your treatment areas that are exposed. Avoid exfoliating products for 48 hours before your treatment. If you are unsure about any products you are using please contact our office.
How should I expect to feel after my treatment?
Your skin may be red immediately after your treatment and should dissipate within the first hour after your treatment. Your skin will look and feel very smooth and any products applied after your treatment will penetrate the skin more effectively than before. Every client is different. Any additional post care that pertains to you will be given to you at the time of your appointment.
There is typically no downtime with dermaplaning and home care post treatment is highly recommended for optimal results. Treatments are recommended every 4-6 weeks.
